The March to City Hall
On July 20, 2004 Sen. E. Shapleigh and the Get the Lead Out Coalition led a rally and a march on City Hall. Approximately three hundred (300) El Pasoans converged on city hall urging City Councilors and the Mayor to take a strong stance against ASARCO. In the aftermath of the rally and march, the Mayor and City Council loudly announced that they had been opposed to ASARCO reopening all along. However, their previous actions and inaction spoke louder than their words. |
